After many months of hard work, Startupizer 2.0 has been released and is now available on the Mac App Store at a special introductory price! Go get it until the price goes up!

Note to 1.0 users: Startupizer 2.0 is payed upgrade. Unfortunately Apple doesn’t provide means to have payed upgrades on the Mac App Store, so developers are faced with two options: either have upgrade free of charge or make it entirely new product. I was weighting pros and cons of both ways throughout 2.0 development. Then finally, at the end of I opted for second:

• Startupizer 2.0 has been completely rewritten from scratch, so it’s effectively a completely different product even though it still solves the same task.
• Startupizer 2.0 is OS X 10.7 Lion only. This may break compatibility with users still on Snow Leopard.
• New product gets listed higher on the Mac App Store so can get more attention from potential users.

While releasing as new product may cause annoyance with some users, especially those who only purchased 1.0 recently, I feel this is better solution for most: upgrade fee will bring more income so I can justify spending more time and effort on the product. To compensate, Startupizer 2.0 is offered by special introductory price of just $3.99 for some time. Thinking of it, that’s the price of a single beer or coffee, but compared to few minutes of enjoment, software brings in much longer lasting satisfaction. Plus, Startupizer 1.0 price was reduced recently too to ease these cases.

While Startupizer 2.0 may seem to only bring few newer features compared to 1.0, it includes many improvements. On user interface level, it should be much simpler for using and it should make it much more apparent of what is going on. One interesting new feature is simulation mode: it allows you to simulate various runtime parameters to see which items would be started and which not. The same visual indication is used when launching items. You can now run it as menu bar application and more…

Currently there’s no trial available, but you can use lite version - it uses old user interface, but core functionality is there. You can also check the introductory video to see it in action. Startupizer 2.0 is available on the Mac App Store.
